Starting a fitness routine is no small task without experience, much less if you are new to exercise. One of the many reasons for this is time: when you work full time, fitting into a workout seems impossible. But it can work if you apply the right methods and use your personal calendar to do so. Here are some ways to create the best fitness routine for your lifestyle using your online calendar.
Calendars – Calendars
1. Create recurring events for training days
In the same way that you set up work events in your calendar, create recurring events for your workout days. It sounds simple enough, but if your schedule only contains the first, it will be easier to forget the second. In addition, having your workouts along with regular work out will psychologically equate work and exercise as important “events” and consolidate your fitness routine as a necessity of your day.
You can do different events for different workout days (upper body, legs, etc.) to break them down even further. Not only does this help you structure your exercise more effectively, but it adds a certain perceived variety to your day-to-day life.
2. Take notes on your performance
Most virtual calendar programs offer the ability to take notes on your tasks and events in some way. This can take the form of an event description, a feedback feature, or a dedicated notes section, among others. You can take a moment to write and review your notes before and after the gym sessions.
Over time, these notes will help you focus and refine the things you are struggling with. For example, maybe one day, you will notice that your posture can be improved. Observe the observation in the notes section; you will always have this note to remind you that you need to keep it in the right shape.
3. Follow your gym’s public class schedule
You already have your schedule at your disposal, so you know what hours are open. However, if you are just starting out on your fitness journey, you may have problems with self-discipline or be unfamiliar with the proper forms of training. Follow your gym’s class schedule (which is possible on most calendar platforms) to stay tuned for possible alignments.
Even if you’re not interested in group exercise, a class, a stronger knowledge base, is enough to get you started. Just look at the relevant classes and you can conveniently sign up through the calendar itself.
4. Integrate your fitness apps
Setting up an event for each workout is helpful, but connecting a fitness app can improve accessibility and fitness. Many applications can integrate their features into specific calendar platforms as a way to use both at the same time. For example, you can use a cardio timer app that records your time on your calendar as a note.
There are several benefits to recording the progress of your workout directly on your calendar, including the convenience of keeping track. As mentioned, taking notes can help you improve, and doing so automatically will save you extra effort. Another benefit is that you can better understand the length of your routine to maximize your time effectively.
5. Establish effective reminders
The hardest part of maintaining an exercise routine is pushing your resistance every day. It’s not easy to spend time on it or even remember it on especially busy days, but reminders can help. With events you’ve already set up, you can create consistent, assertive reminders.
These qualities, of course, have different levels of importance in an effective notification for different people. Maybe your phone vibrates for a few seconds it won’t catch your eye; instead, you need a strong ringtone. If you are prone to repeat, you can turn it off every five minutes during the hour before exercise.
6. Block distractions during training
At the other end of the spectrum, you can also use these events to block notifications during their duration. This option in your program can be called Focus Mode or Do Not Disturb Mode. As long as “Do Not Disturb” is turned on, you won’t receive any messages, calls, or reminders that make your approach difficult.
If you automate your schedule, people can see that you are exercising and distractions will decrease. Your focus, in turn, will be much stronger during your workout and you will be more in tune with your body. Plus, you can pump your music all the time to make time go by faster.
7. Make time to rest
Finally, you have planned your fitness routine and set up your calendar as comfortably as possible. But remember that scheduled rest is just as important as exercise for your safety and muscle growth. In this case, doing nothing every two days is more productive than a full-body daily workout.
How you want to spend your rest time depends on you: you can work on it or relax. Some people choose to work for different muscle groups on different days, so they never have a real day off. If this suits your lifestyle, do what suits you whenever you practice self-care.
If you’re reading this, chances are you have fitness aspirations. Don’t wait to start if you don’t need to because once your routine is in motion, you will feel much healthier. With your calendar by your side, it will be easy to prepare.
