Facebook has almost three billion users, which means that when you make a change to your business, it affects almost half of the planet. Facebook’s ambitions have often manifested themselves in chaotic and unpredictable ways and have had profound social impacts for years after being implemented. Thus, when the company decided to change its brand to Meta and allocate billions of dollars to the construction of its own virtual alternative reality, it is a move that will probably have major consequences, if not more, for Meta itself.
This week at Gadget Lab we are joined by Shirin Ghaffary of Recode and Alex Heath of The Virgin. The new season of his podcast, Land of the Giants, it’s about transforming Facebook into Meta and what it means for the billions of people on Facebook and the world at large.
