With these simple changes, Shelia’s office became a more comfortable place to do her daily work. Cases of illness declined and overall morale and productivity improved.

It is easy to assume that desks are not physically demanding positions and that the furniture used in the office is for a functional purpose only. After all, very little movement or endurance is required in a desk job. The truth, though, is that while they may seem innocuous, they can have a substantial, continuous effect on the body. If the positions our bodies take throughout the day are not carefully designed, it could mean more serious aches, pains, and problems in the future. That’s why it’s so important to prioritize workspaces when designing your business.

A company is only as strong as its employees. When your health is compromised, nothing works to the fullest. The positions in which we hold our body throughout the day really have an impact from the inside out. Sitting for long periods of time can lead to heart disease, diabetes and cancer. It can cause back problems, carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive strain injuries that make the workday difficult, and even painful!

Fortunately, there are many ways to reduce the amount of work you do every day and improve your health at the same time!

It’s all a matter of posture. According to the American Chiropractic Association, sitting in good posture can help prevent back pain and other health problems. Good posture can improve your mood and energy levels. Proper posture can also affect breathing, mood, and energy levels.

Thus, while standing desks can be beneficial, they are not necessarily healthier than sitting if there is no movement.
