Google recently announced that it will give all U.S. companies up to 500 Google Career Certificate grants to skills improvement employees, which could be worth up to $ 100,000 in staff training to any U.S. company.
Google offers up to $ 100,000 in career certificate scholarships to all small businesses in the U.S.
Google Career Certificates allow job seekers to study part-time for 3-6 months to acquire the skills needed to fill positions in demand fields, without any qualifications or experience required to be eligible. Certificates are part of the Grow with Google campaign, which recently added new Google career certificates specifically for digital marketing and e-commerce.
The small business and the need for digital tools
Certificates will also train companies on how to find customers online and sell products or services, as well as marketing analysis and measurement. This is especially relevant for small businesses now, as the online market has grown massively since the Covid-19 pandemic, with nearly half of small business owners not having the skills to use digital tools. .
Interestingly, two out of three small and medium-sized U.S. businesses have reported that the use of digital tools during the pandemic helped them discover new business opportunities. This includes most black and Latin-owned SMEs, which will receive help from Google’s digital marketing and e-commerce certificates that focus on the skills needed to expand their online footprint.
Certificate recipients can expect to gain hands-on experience with digital marketing tools and platforms such as Canva, Constant Contact, Hubspot, Shopify, Twitter, Google Ads, and Google Analytics. Certificate scholarships will also help small businesses retain and train current talent, and even provide them with new skills that will allow them to take advantage of new sources of income.
Unlock “New Areas of Economic Potential”
Grow with Google founder Lisa Gevelber said: “Technology continues to drive economic growth and job opportunities. It is essential that both jobseekers and businesses have access to the skills needed to grow their presence in “Google is happy to help us with our Certificate of Digital Marketing and Ecommerce and our commitment to enabling all U.S. companies to improve their employees at no cost.”
Canva’s global head of talent acquisition, Amy Schultz, added: “We are proud to partner with Google to help anyone accelerate their digital skills. We look forward to working with Google to empower people in a skills-based job market. “
Graduates will be considered for roles
Designed by Google experts with significant input from many of the leading e-commerce companies, the program has also received support from the American Advertising Federation and the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
To connect graduates with jobs, the program also offers access to a consortium of entrepreneurs from more than 150 companies including Deloitte, Infosys, Verizon, Walmart, Wayfair and even Google. Each member company of the consortium has undertaken to consider each recipient of the certificate for the relevant initial level roles.
About 70,000 people have graduated from the certificate program since its launch in 2018, and three-quarters of them reported that it had a positive impact on their careers.
