Michael Guta Named Assistant Editor at Small Business Trends

Small Business Trends is proud to announce that Mike Guta has accepted a promotion to the position of Assistant Editor.

Guta’s promotion is part of Small Business Trends’ investment in the future and the expansion of its publishing department. Guta has been working with the publication since June 2015 when he started writing articles for the website. Since then, he has collaborated on image and SEO, and manages the Ethiopian team while participating in the perennial process.

“No one deserves this promotion and recognition more than Mike,” says Joshua Sophy, editor of Small Business Trends. “She’s the hardest-working person I’ve ever met, in person or virtually. And she’s an invaluable member of the leadership of our great editorial team.”

Prior to working with Small Business Trends, Guta graduated with a degree in Communication Technology before working to implement infrastructure in Ethiopia with various NGOs. He later collaborated on a local English-language newspaper, The Sub-Saharan Informer, working as a writer and editor. Guta also wrote content for various technology companies, as well as for websites such as TMCNET, which cover communications and technology.

In his new position, Guta will indirectly assist the site editor while continuing to manage the international location of Small Business Trends in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Guta says he hopes to be part of the editorial team and the process of creating new content to serve Small Business Trends readers.

Guta says he plans to “continue to improve and learn new skills to further expand SBT’s reach to millions of small business owners around the world.” It also hopes to “introduce new solutions, technologies and financial opportunities that small business owners can take advantage of in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.”

New roles for two additional members of the Ethiopian team

In addition to the rise of Guta, two additional members of the Ethiopian team have accepted new roles and titles.

Samson Haileyesus has been promoted to senior writer. And Elias G / Michael has been promoted to the title of editorial technician and SEO specialist.

Both Samson and Elias are key members of the Small Business Trends editorial team and, with their promotions, will be more involved in the publishing process. With its future success, Small Business Trends will continue to grow.

“I’m always impressed to see our team in Ethiopia in action,” says Sophy. “Just like Mike, Samson and Elias deserve their promotions. Samson is the definition of a professional writer. And Elias’ ambition and motivation are unmatched. Our growth is not possible without this fantastic team and I am delighted that have accepted these new positions with more responsibilities “.

Guta also points to the positive growth of Small Business Trends in identifying the opportunities that have been offered to it.

“I am very grateful for the growth opportunities that SBT offers. They are on a continuous path of growth and learning. At SBT there is a system that offers new opportunities while encouraging staff to learn and make the most of these opportunities,” he says.
