The two drawbacks of this? OnePlus decided to give up a fast refresh rate, which would have made the interaction with the screen feel a little smoother. But I’m going to take a traditional 60 Hz screen with OLED any day over a 90 Hz LCD screen, so I don’t really see it as a problem. What is annoying is how the screen doesn’t become very bright; when you’re outdoors on a sunny day, you’ll need to roll your eyes.
Get plenty of equipment, such as a decently loud download speaker, a reliable on-screen fingerprint sensor, and even a MicroSD card slot to expand the 128 gigabytes of storage included. The phone also has an IP52 rating, so it should be fine in the rain, but it probably won’t survive a drop in a pool. You even have a headphone jack!
Battery life has nothing to stand out. The 4,500 mAh cell usually lasted a whole day for me, but not much longer. If you ever die earlier, this is where 33 watt cable fast charging comes in (as long as you use the included OnePlus cable and adapter). It increased the North N20 5G from 15 to 70 percent faster than can be called supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. (Okay, it took 30 minutes, which is still crazy fast.)
It helps that the plastic body of this phone does not feel as plastic as other cheap phones. The flat edges make it easy to grip and feel solidly built. However, the rear cameras stand out so much that after a drop of less than 2 inches (I was trying to take a picture of my puppy from the ground down), I already see some minor scratches in the lens and around the edges of the phone . Get a case if you find one!
Speaking of which, there’s a 64-megapixel main camera, a macro camera, and a monochrome sensor; the latter only allows you to take real black and white photos. And the macro is for capturing very detailed close-ups. I’m not much of a macro person, so I didn’t find many uses for it except some ground dandelion.
The main camera is … OK. You can get detailed images when there is a lot of light, although the colors can sometimes feel undersaturated and you may struggle with high contrast scenes. In low light, dedicated night mode tries to add more sharpness and color, but your photos will still be blurry or blurry, depending on how still you can leave your hands when you press the shutter button. It doesn’t have the sharpness and natural colors of the Pixel 5A, but you can take some acceptable photos on the North N20 5G that are good enough.
I am very impressed with the North N20 5G. It doesn’t feel like a OnePlus phone, there is no mute switch, the design is completely different and even the night mode of the camera is not called “Nightscape” like all other OnePlus. However, it is incredibly satisfying to be able to use such a cheap phone and May he has to deal with annoying stuttering. It’s a shame you won’t receive any operating system updates after Android 12.
