You know the beef is real when your mayor gets involved.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs are quickly becoming one of the top rivalries in the NFL. Both young titans of the AFC, it’s clear that the two teams will likely face each other in crucial postseason matchups for years to come.

That is, of course, as long as they each employ Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes. And while both men have been captains of their craft over the past few years, Burrow has outplayed Mahomes in their first head-to-head.

“Joe Cool” is currently 3-0 against the 2018 MVP, including a momentous comeback win against Kansas City in last year’s AFC Championship. And because of Burrow’s recent success against the Chiefs, the entire city of Cincinnati has high confidence in his ability to turn them around again.

Just ask your mayor.

“As the Cincinnati Bengals head to Burrowhead Stadium for their second straight AFC Championship game,” the city’s 70th mayor Aftab Pureval read in a video posted to social media.

That was just the beginning of the trash talk.

“While last year’s game, the Bengals scored more points than the Chiefs,” he continued, “resulting in a Bengals win and a Chiefs loss. While Joseph Lee Burrow, who has 3- 0 against Muhammad, has been asked by the officers to take a paternity test to confirm whether or not he is her father.

While all season long, Cincinnati has been on the road to destiny, struggling to beat anyone who stands between them and a Super Bowl victory. And while Kansas City is named after its neighboring state, which is, you know, kind of weird. Therefore, I, Aftab Pureval, Mayor of the City of Cincinnati, do hereby proclaim January 29, 2023 as our “must play day” in Cincinnati. Thanks.”
