Player: Christian Pulisic
Place of birth: Hershey, Pennsylvania
Club: Chelsea F.C
Team Role: star
USMNT Caps: 51
Pulisic, the headliner for the USMNT, is also the team’s most dangerous attacking player when he wins his best game. The winger, who can unbalance even the stoutest defense with his one-on-one dribbling, broke into Borussia Dortmund’s senior team aged 16 almost seven years ago and hasn’t looked back.
Pulisic moved to current club Chelsea in a $73 million transfer in 2019, and in 2021 he became the first American to play in and win the UEFA Champions League. Days later, he buried the winning penalty for the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League final victory over archrival Mexico. He also scored the second game-winning goal in a 2-0 “two-nil” win against El Tri in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Pulisic has struggled to play for Chelsea this season, both under former manager Thomas Tuchel and current boss Graham Potter. So he has a lot to prove in his first World Cup and will look to play a prominent role for the Americans in Qatar, especially against an England team with several of his teammates.
