World Baseball Classic highlights: Group play wraps with Pool C, Pool D

Group game at 2023 my baseball world classic ends on Wednesday with a pair of games in both Group C and Group D.

First up, Group D play takes center stage as Venezuela take on Israel in the first match of the day.

Later, Group C will be in action when Mexico takes on Canada (3:00 p.m. ET), followed by Puerto Rico battling the Dominican Republic in the second game of Group D (7:00 p.m. ET). The United States and Colombia will close things out in Group C (10 p.m. ET).

Group A group play, which took place in Taichung, Taiwan, ended on Sunday, with Cuba and Italy advancing to the quarter-finals. Elsewhere in Tokyo, Group B was completed earlier on Monday, with Japan and Australia advancing.

The WBC began on March 7 and will conclude on March 21 with the championship match (Tuesday, 7 p.m. ET, FS1) in Florida. The quarter-final matches will take place on March 15-18, followed by the semi-finals on March 19-20.

Puerto Rico vs Dominican Republic (Group D)

Dominican Republic starting pitcher Johnny Cueto announced that the Miami crowd was absolutely rocking after a smooth 1-2-3 inning to start.

After two scoreless innings, Christian Vazquez put Puerto Rico up 1-0 with a mammoth homer in the third.

Lindy!

The Puerto Rican team kept rolling from there as Francisco Lindor slapped in a hard liner to make it 2-0.

Juan Soto has a penchant for big flies, and this was certainly one big to fly. His solo shot helped the Dominican Republic get on the board in the bottom of the third.

We knew Francisco Lindor could run. But we didn’t know its wheels moved so much this The smiling Puerto Rican made the base trip the hard way to extend PR’s lead.
