World Baseball Classic live updates: Pool C, Pool D group play underway

The 2023 Baseball World Classic continues on Tuesday with four highly anticipated matches, a pair in both Pool C and Pool D.

First up, Group D play takes center stage as Nicaragua take on Venezuela in the first match of the day.

Later, Group C will be in action when Canada takes on Colombia (3:00 p.m. ET), followed by Israel battling the Dominican Republic in the second game of Group D (7:00 p.m. ET). Rounding out Group C, Great Britain will face Mexico (10 p.m. ET).

Group A group play, which took place in Taichung, Taiwan, ended on Sunday, with Cuba and Italy advancing to the quarter-finals. Elsewhere in Tokyo, Group B was completed earlier on Monday, with Japan and Australia advancing.

The WBC began on March 7 and will conclude on March 21 with the championship match (Tuesday, 7 p.m. ET, FS1) in Florida. The quarter-final matches will take place on March 15-18, followed by the semi-finals on March 19-20.

The fourth inning was huge for the Venezuelan squad, who tacked on two more runs thanks to a double by Eugenio Suarez.

Anthony Santander added to their lead in the fifth with an RBI double up the middle to make it 3.
