Belgium against Morocco

Setting the scene

Belgium are aiming to mark their 50th World Cup match with a second win in Qatar after defeating Canada 1-0 in their tournament opener on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Morocco are gunning for their first World Cup win after a 0-0 draw with Croatia earlier this week.

5′ – Belgium get early opportunities

Michy Batshuay put some pressure on Belgium early on, with a good look in front of the net, but was parried.

23′ – Thibaut Courtois says sike

Youssef En-Nesyri crashed into the net, but the Belgian goalkeeper kept the Moroccan away with a fine move.

45′ + 4′ – The VAR eliminates Morocco’s goal

Hakim Ziyech looked like he would have scored from a Moroccan free-kick to put his side 1-0 up just before the break. However, the goal went to a VAR review and was written off the board for offside.
