The 2022 World Cup is almost here! This means punters only have a few days to place their future bets on which teams can progress out of the group stage and make a run at the knockout round.
So which teams should you back to make a run at the tournament? And what long-term plans should you put money into for a potential big payday? FOX Sports betting analyst Jason McIntyre breaks it down with gambling analyst Sam Panayotovich, football reporter Doug McIntyre and guest football analyst Chad Ochocinco.
Denmark exceeded all expectations four years ago.
The Dane surprisingly advanced out of group play at the 2018 World Cup and took eventual runners-up Croatia to the last 16 on penalties. And they’ve had all this time to grow together since then, which should be beneficial.
Take a look at how Denmark have fared in international competition over the past few months. They have been very, very good against some of the best countries in Europe, finishing outside France in the Nations League in September. If France can’t overcome a slew of injuries, look to Denmark in Group D.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Preview: USA v Wales, Christian Pulisic
FOX Sports Soccer Analyst Stu Holden joins Colin Cowherd to discuss the impact Christian Pulisic will have on the USMNT at the 2022 World Cup
When betting on World Cup futures, the two main priorities are the group and the draw. Argentina will reverse their group, with the only threat from Mexico. Apologies to fans of Polish star Robert Lewandowski.
Lionel Messi & Co. they are one of the hottest teams in the world. Argentina enter the World Cup unbeaten in 32 games in a row, and that includes capturing the 2021 Copa America title.
Looking ahead, the World Cup round of 16 clash will likely be against defensive-minded Denmark, a game in which Argentina should be favoured. That will be the case again in the quarter-finals, where Argentina should be favorites against either the Netherlands or the United States.
It looks as though Argentina are on a collision course with at least the semi-finals. Also, if one adheres to the charming narrative that Messi’s destiny is to capture the country’s first World Cup since Diego Maradona in 1986 and claim the title of greatest footballer in history, well, this is definitely what i can back. . But it’s not just Messi against the world. Angel Di Maria, Sergio Agüero and Golden Boot candidate Lautaro Martínez complete a very balanced Argentine attack.

Nick’s World Cup 2022 prediction, victory would cement Messi as the GOAT
Nick Wright discusses the USMNT’s expectations in group play and explains why “a World Cup win cements Lionel Messi as soccer’s GOAT.”
Germany are not quite the in-form side they were coming out of the Nations League in June, when they had just ended a run of nine wins, zero defeats and four draws with a 5-2 drubbing of Italy. A home defeat to Hungary in September snapped that unbeaten run and raised fair questions about the potential of Hansi Flick’s rebuilding side heading to Qatar.
However The team still enters the World Cup playing better than France (+600 to win the World Cup) or England (+750). The Germans are still on the easier side of support. And this is still a deep and talented enough team that, with a little luck, can win it all.
Doug’s Pick: Germany +1000 to win the World Cup (bet $10 to win $110 total) at FOX Bet
I think it will be France and Argentina in the World Cup finals, with Argentina winning it all. I don’t think Lionel Messi and this squad can ever be counted out.
